INDIA IN SPACE ( PART-5 )

INDIAN SATELLITES AND ROCKETS :

AFTER THE FAILURE OF INSAT 4C, INSAT 4CR ( WEIGHING 2140 KG ) SATELLITE WAS LAUNCHED SUCCESSFULLY ON SEPTEMBER 2007.TILL THAT GSLV CARRIED SATELLITES OF WEIGHT 2 TONNES.LATER ON INDIA TRIED IN LAUNCHING SATELLITES WEIGHING 4 TONNES TO 9 TONNES.
INDIAN ROCKET FIRED IN SPACE

AS INDIA WAS GETTING CRYOGENIC ENGINES FROM RUSSIA SHE ALSO STARTED WORKING TO PRODUCE HER OWN CRYOGENIC ENGINES.THE SELF PRODUCTION OF CRYOGENIC ENGINES WAS STARTED MAHENDRAGIRI,TAMILNADU.THE PLAN WAS STARTED ON 1993.INDIA ALSO HAS DESIGNED GSLV3 MODEL.THE FINAL STAGE OF GSLV3 WILL BE CARRYING 25 TONNES OF CRYOGENIC FUEL.THIS HAS HIGH CAPACITY,SO THIS TYPE OF ROCKET CAN CARRY A SATELLITE WEIGHING 4 TONNES.

IN OUR WORLD ONLY 6 COUNTRIES WERE LAUNCHING HEAVY WEIGHING SATELLITES.THEY ARE RUSSIA,AMERICA,EUROPE SPACE AGENCY,CHINA,JAPAN AND THEN INDIA.11 SATELLITES LIKE INSAT 2E,INSAT 3A,INSAT 3B,INSAT 3C,INSAT 3E,INSAT 4A,INSAT 4B,INSAT 4CR,KALPANA,GSAT-2 AND EDUSAT WERE PLACED IN SPACE FACING INDIA.THESE ARE ALL GEOSTATIONARY SATELLITES.

INDIA IN SPACE ( PART-4 )

INDIAN ROCKETS AND SATELLITES:

USING THESE RUSSIAN ENGINES INDIA DEVELOPED GSLV ( GEOSTATIONARY SATELLITE LAUNCH VEHICLES ).SATELLITES LIKE  INSAT WERE LAUNCHED IN EQUATORIAL ORBIT USING GSLV.A GSLV WEIGHS NEARLY 400 TONNE.ITS HEIGHT IS 49 METER ( NEARLY EQUAL TO THE HEIGHT OF A 15 STOREY BUILDING ).

THE FIRST STAGE OF THIS GSLV CONTAINS SOLID FUEL WEIGHING 130 TONNE.THIS ROCKET IS  ONE OF THE BIGGEST SOLID FUEL  ROCKETS IN THE WORLD.SMALL ROCKETS ARE CONNECTED ON ALL ITS FOUR SIDES.EACH HAS  LIQUID FUELWEIGHING 40 TONNE  IN IT.

4 SMALL ROCKETS
SECOND STAGE HAS LIQUID FUEL WEIGHING 37 TONNE.THIRD STAGE ROCKET HAS CRYOGENIC ENGINE WHICH USES  BOTH LIQUID HYDROGEN AND LIQUID OXYGEN. GSLV ROCKET WAS USED MOSTLY IN THE MID PERIOD OF 2007 WHICH WAS PROVED TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

EDUSAT
GSLV STAGES
FOR THE FIRST TIME ON APRIL 2001 GSAT ( WEIGHING 1540 KG )WAS LAUNCHED USING GSLV  WHICH FAILED TO REACH ITS ORBIT.FOR THE SECOND TIME ON MAY 2003 GSAT2        ( WEIGHING 1825 KG) WAS LAUNCHED USING GSLV WHICH WAS SUCCESSFUL.IT WORKED UP TO AN ALTITUDE OF 35,000 KM.ON SEPTEMBER 2004 EDUSAT ( WEIGHING 1950 KG ) WAS LAUNCHED SUCCESFULLY USING GSLV FOR EDUCATION PURPOSE.

LATER ON JULY 10 TH, 2006 ONE OF THE INSAT SERIES NAMED INSAT 4C ( WEIGHING 2168 KG ) WAS LAUNCHED USING GSLV.BUT IT FELL IN TO THE SEA DUE TO IMPROPER FUCTIONING OF SMALL ROCKETS.AS THE ROCKET WAS DEFLECTED FROM ITS ORBIT, IT WAS DESTROYED FROM THE CONTROL ROOM. ANY  ROCKET WHICH CARRIES FUEL OF 100 TONNES WOULD BE DESTRUCTED IN THE SPACE ITSELF, IF IT IS DEVIATED FROM ITS ACTUAL ORBIT DIRECTION SO THAT WE CAN PREVENT ANY DAMAGES BEFORE IT FALLS ON EARTH.
